Dow GLBI Announces Team Pairings

Who: Members of the Great Lakes Bay Region and supporters of the LPGA and the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational

What: The Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational unveiled player pairings for the LPGA team event. The 2021 tournament, which will take place July 12-17, 2021, offers a format unique to the LPGA Tour, with two-player teams competing in both foursomes and four-ball in a 72-hole tournament. The event is the highest-paying non-major, non-tour championship tournament in the LPGA, with a $2.3 million purse.

The Dow GLBI field consists of the tournament’s defending champions, Jasmine Suwannapurra and Cydney Clanton. 2021 LPGA champions who are also participating in the event include: No. 1-ranked player Nelly Korda (KPMG Women’s PGA Championship), Yuka Saso (U.S. Women’s Open) and Patty Tavatanakit (2021 ANA Inspiration). The field includes 12 of the 15 of the top players in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings.

Other notes on the field include:

  • The top 10 2021 LPGA Tour money earners

  • 9 of 10 and 38 of 50 current CME ranked players

  • Top 7-point leaders in the U.S. Solheim Cup Rankings

  • Notable teams such as Lexi Thompson & Nasa Hataoka, So Yeon Ryu & Inbee Park and Danielle Kang & Lydia Ko

Over four days, players will play alternating rounds of foursomes (alternate shot) and four-ball (best ball) competition. After 36 holes, the field will be a cut to the low 35 teams and any ties for 35th. In the event of a tie after 72 holes, the champions will be determined by a hole-by-hole playoff using the foursomes format. For more information, please visit DowGLBI.com.
