Community: Dow Championship Week will return June 24 – 30 with a variety of community-driven events
MIDLAND, Mich. – June 14, 2024 – The Dow Championship returns June 24-30 at Midland Country Club in Midland, Michigan. Alongside official LPGA tournament play, Dow Championship week will once again include a variety of community-driven events, including Rock the Block presented by Dow Credit Union and new this year, Yoga on the Green presented by MyMichigan Health. Tournament officials are thrilled to announce that the field will include Sophie Stevens from the Suzann Pettersen Amateur Qualifier presented by Frankenmuth Insurance and Georgia Oboh from the John Shippen Women’s Invitational, who both received exemptions to compete in the event. COMPETITION: Dow Championship Announces 2024 Sponsor Exemptions
The Dow Championship’s two qualifier events both wrapped up last week. The Suzann Pettersen Amateur Qualifier presented by Frankenmuth Insurance was held June 4-5 at The Fortress Golf Course in Frankenmuth, Michigan. The John Shippen Women’s Invitational also took place June 4-5 at Blythefield Country Club in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Sophie Stevens won the Suzann Pettersen Qualifier presented by Frankenmuth Insurance with a 36-hole score of -3. The Highland, Michigan. Native is a rising sophomore at the University of Florida. Georgia Oboh won the John Shippen Women’s Invitational with a score of 5 under par. Georgia is a British-born Nigerian golfer. Both earned sponsor exemptions into the Dow Championship and the opportunity to choose their partner for the LPGA Team event.
COMMUNITY: Dow Championship Week will Return with a Variety of Community-Driven Events
Rock the Block presented by Dow Credit Union
Fans are invited to stop by Downtown Midland on Monday, June 24 from 5 – 9 p.m. to help kick off Dow Championship week. Enjoy live music from The Sinclairs Band, family friendly activities, mini golf, balloon artists and a live Q&A with LPGA players hosted by Bill Simonson from the HUGE show. The event is free and open to the public.
Yoga on the Green presented by MyMichigan Health
All levels of participants are welcome to join a 45-minute yoga session on Saturday, June 29 at 8 a.m. After the session, participants can enjoy a healthy snack and experience the fun atmosphere of the Dow Championship. Registration is $5 and all participants will receive one (1) complimentary Saturday general admission ticket. Children 17 and under will need to reserve a free ticket. All registration fees will be donated to the James T. and Elsa U. Pardee Cancer Wellness Center.
Special Olympics 3-Hole Challenge presented by TaylorMade
The Dow Championship will host Special Olympic athletes Saturday, June 29 at 9:30 a.m. from the Great Lakes Bay Region to participate in the Special Olympics 3-Hole Challenge presented by TaylorMade at Midland Country Club. This annual event gives athletes a chance to compete in a three-hole scramble on holes 16, 17 and 18. Fans are encouraged to come out and cheer on the athletes during the event.
