Dow Championship Announces Purse Increase to $3.3 Million for 2025

Increase reflects commitment to growing the sport, supporting elite female athletes, and recognition as a top event in women’s golf

MIDLAND, Mich. – November 21, 2024 – Tournament officials announced today that the Dow Championship will increase the tournament purse to $3.3 million in 2025, a $300,000 increase over the 2024 event. Scheduled for June 23–29, 2025, the Dow Championship is ranked among the top 15 percent of the highest-paying events on the LPGA Tour, excluding major championships. This places the tournament among the top five non-major events.

In addition to this purse increase, the 2024 Dow Championship was recently recognized as the runner-up for the LPGA’s Tournament of the Year award, further solidifying its status as one of the premier events in women’s professional golf.

“We are delighted to have our purse ranked so highly in professional women’s golf, reflecting our unwavering commitment to elevating the sport and empowering athletes at the highest level," said Dow Championship Executive Director Carlos Padilla II. "We are also incredibly proud to be honored as a runner-up for the Tournament of the Year award. This recognition is a testament to the hard work, passion, and dedication of everyone involved in the community, and it motivates us to continue striving for excellence. We look forward to many more years of success, collaboration, and celebration as we grow the sport together.”

In 2024, the Dow Championship celebrated its fifth anniversary with the introduction of a new tournament name, logo, and mascot, Champ. This 72-hole, stroke-play event features two-player teams competing in both foursomes and four-ball formats. While the LPGA tournament serves as the highlight of the week-long festivities, the Dow Championship also offers a range of community-focused programs, including the First Tee Junior Clinic, the Special Olympics 3-Hole Challenge, free access for veterans, and various leadership programming throughout.

Since its inception in 2019, the tournament has contributed over $2 million in charitable donations. Each year, the Dow Championship is also estimated to generate a substantial economic impact of over $20 million in the Great Lakes Bay Region and partners with over 250 local businesses and suppliers annually.

The Dow Championship will return to Midland Country Club next June. Tickets and volunteer opportunities are expected to be announced in early 2025. For more information, visit www.dowchampionship.com or follow the tournament’s social media @DowChampionship.
